trying to configure the MS Dynamics 365 for Outlook and  get the following message
    Hello MK-02040430-0,

You're encountering a very specific and frustrating error: AADSTS7000112: Application '2f29638c-34d4-4cf2-a16a-7caf612cee15'(Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook) is disabled. This error directly points to the legacy Dynamics 365 for Outlook add-in being disabled in your Azure Active Directory (AAD).

Here's a breakdown of the problem and potential solutions, along with why Microsoft Support might be delayed:

    Understanding the Problem:

    • Dynamics 365 for Outlook (Legacy):

      • The application ID 2f29638c-34d4-4cf2-a16a-7caf612cee15 corresponds to the legacy Dynamics 365 for Outlook add-in.
      • This add-in is being phased out in favor of the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.

    • AADSTS7000112 Error:

      • This AAD error indicates that the application is disabled in your Azure Active Directory tenant.
      • This means that users are prevented from authenticating with the add-in.

    • Why It Might Be Disabled:

      • Accidental Disablement: An administrator might have accidentally disabled the application.
      • Security Policies: Your organization's security policies might have disabled the application.
      • Microsoft Deprecation: Microsoft might have disabled the application in your tenant as part of the deprecation process.

      •

    •

    Troubleshooting and Solutions:

    1. Verify Application Status in Azure AD:

      • Azure Portal:

        • Log in to the Azure portal with an administrator account.
        • Navigate to Azure Active Directory > Enterprise applications.
        • Search for the application with the ID 2f29638c-34d4-4cf2-a16a-7caf612cee15 (or "Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook").
        • Check the application's status. If it's disabled, enable it.

      • PowerShell:

        • You can also use PowerShell to check and enable the application.
        • Use the Get-AzureADServicePrincipal and Set-AzureADServicePrincipal cmdlets.

        •

    2. Check Conditional Access Policies:

      • Azure Portal:

        • Navigate to Azure Active Directory > Security > Conditional Access.
        • Check for any Conditional Access policies that might be blocking access to the Dynamics 365 for Outlook add-in.

      • It is very possible that a conditional access policy is blocking the old application.

      •

    3. Encourage Transition to Dynamics 365 App for Outlook:

      • Dynamics 365 App for Outlook:

        • The Dynamics 365 App for Outlook is the recommended replacement for the legacy add-in.
        • It offers improved performance, reliability, and functionality.
        • It is also much more secure.

      • User Training:

        • Provide training to your users on how to use the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.

      •

    4. Microsoft Support (Escalate):

      • Escalate Your Ticket:

        • Since you've already opened a support ticket, escalate it.
        • Provide them with the error message and the application ID.
        • Emphasize the urgency of the issue.

      • Microsoft Documentation:

        • Point them to the Microsoft documentation that explains the deprecation of the old outlook add in.

        •

    5. Check Exchange Online Configuration:

      • In some rare cases the problem can be related to the exchange online configuration.

      •

Why Microsoft Support Might Be Delayed:

    • Deprecation Focus: Microsoft's support resources are likely focused on the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook, as the legacy add-in is being phased out.
    • Complex Issue: The issue might require coordination between multiple teams (Dynamics 365, Azure AD, Exchange Online), which can lead to delays.
    • High Volume: Microsoft Support might be experiencing a high volume of tickets.

    •

    Key Recommendations:

    • Prioritize transitioning to the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.
    • Verify the application status in Azure AD.
    • Escalate your support ticket if you don't receive a response soon.

    •

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue or find a suitable workaround.
