Can someone explain the marketing/groups area of CRM.

The marketing section primarily is used to manage the most common functionality related to Marketing. This is where you would maintain Campaigns, Marketing Lists, Sales Literature and other items related to Marketing Efforts.
From here you can use Campaigns and Marketing List to conduct e-mail marketing activities, generate word merges used in mailings and conduct other Marketing related functions for Campaigns.
If there are other specifics that you're interested in let me know and we can always dive into more detail.

Thanks Jeremy. I was more specifically asking about the group section of marketing.
"Groups" is not a standard section of Marketing, so it sounds like something has either been renamed (maybe Marketing Lists?) or this is a custom entity.
What does the icon for thie section look like?
