Priority when there are multiple valid trade agreement journal lines?

We are using trade agreement journal to manage the purchase and sales price of our products. Sometimes there are multiple valid (in terms of date and quantity) records  of price trade agreement for the same item, but with different prices and different From dates; When creating orders, system will choose one of the trade agreement; The problem is, we don't understand the logic behind the choice. We suspect there are multiple factors involved, but we're not sure of the exact rules:

  • The created /modified /posted time of the trade agreement journals
  • From dates and To dates
  • Prices
  • ...

Suppose all of the records in question are for all customers/vendors, and for a specific item; All of them have valid dates and quantities; All of them share the same site, warehouse and currency.

I have the same question (0)

If you have "find next" selected then it will look for the "best" price. If you don't it will pick the first one it finds, which is probably on the oldest posted line looking through the records at the higher level.

The best thing to do, if you don't understand the logic is to detail the scenario here. In your example it is for a specific item for all customers, you have 3 valid records with pricing of 10, 11 and 12. The system picks 11, you want to know why (especially if it is not the first posted!)

Price dimensions, if activated, will have an impact.

May I ask what the "best" price means? Is it the lowest price for purchasing, and highest for selling?

It has been a long time since I setup examples, but you have them and therefore you can see this yourself. If you have discounts I believe it cumulates the applicable discounts, with pricing I thought it picked the lowest for the customer, therefore if the price for all customers was 10, for the group the customer is in 13 and the specific price for the customer is 12 then the price on the line would be 10 - all are valid so the "best" price for the customer is applied.
