Form grid row missing checkbox after migration to D365

Our company is in the process of upgrading from on prem AX 2012 to D365.  The migration is complete, security (Roles/Duties/Privs/Permissions) setup is complete and now we are doing application functional / security testing.  Our test team noticed that custom forms we migrated from AX 2012 are now missing a grid row checkbox graphic when logged in with the standard user account.  The account has the appropriate security to use this application as it works for them in AX 2012, but in D365 the column is just blank in the grid row.

They cannot click the column and have a checkmark appear, as we would normally expect.  However, you can click on the grid row to highlight the row, then click the 'Select highlighted' option at the top of the page and the column then receives a checkmark.  None of this behavior happens if we login with an Admin account where the form functions normally with the checkbox, including the ability to click the column and have a checkmark appear.  I've included attachments for your reference.

Initially, this seemed like a permissions issue since the Admin account has no problem.  But the standard user can still get a checkmark to appear in the "invisible" box, as described above.  Wondering if anyone can provide some insight as to why this would happen?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Thank you for your replies.  I found that the security role has a custom privilege which had a Display Menu Item 'Access Level' setting I needed to change from 'Read' to 'Update'.  Once I did that the select checkbox appeared and the users can select it.  Still not sure why the 'Read' level access allowed the user to select the row using the 'Select highlighted' button.  But I think we're good to go now so I'm moving on :)

    Thanks again for your help!

Looking at pictures, your form seems a custom form and it appears the user X cannot see the record in the form but has access to the form, Do you know how to add permissions for the table, for this user.
You need to know which security roles are assigned to the user. From those security roles, choose the most appropriate  one and add the tables permission.

    Hi Scott,

Can you tell us if the users do have the standard security role System user assigned? Is this behavior only on the custom forms or all? Can you also share the details what exact permissions are added on the privileges for the menu items, possible form controls, and possibly some table override permissions?
