I have a couple questions:
1. Is it possible to change a warehouse from whs enabled to basic warehousing?
2. Can you get auto reservation to work on basic warehousing?

Hi Shaun,
1. Once WHS enabled, it can't be changed to basic warehouse. However Adv only works if items are setup with advanced warehouse too.
2. Reservation works on basic warehousing as well. The setup is in AR parameters > General tab > Sales default values > Reservation (Manual or automatic). There is addition to this, if you want to reserve even the items that on-ordered, On inventory mgmt parameters (Reserve on-ordered items).

1. Where do you set a product to have advanced warehousing? Also, can this be taken off?
What i am trying to achieve is this. The warehouses were setup as adv warehouses but probably shouldnt have been. I want the location to be defaulted on a picking slip but with adv warehousing, this can only happen with work and such and my client doesnt need that cumbersome process.. I know in basic warehousing you can setup the default issue location but i cant do that now as my warehouse is adv.
Any ideas?
1. I see you have adv warehouse on storage dimension but if product been used you cant change it.
Warehouse management can be changed from Basic to Advanced, haven't seen anything the other way around.
Warehouse management > Setup > Enable warehouse management processes > Enable warehouse setup

Even though the default issue location is blank on the Advanced warehouse. Alternate option is to setup warehouse items on released products, it will let you default the location on the sales order if item is basic warehouse (not for advanced warehouse).
Alternatively, you need to review how far are you in setting up items/warehouses. If there is an opportunity to do this right, then go for that approach rather than looking for workarounds. It may be much more work in long term.

Thank you for your responses. The client is live and has been working like this for months.
The products are setup as advanced warehousing on the storage dimension and i cant seem to change that now.
The easiest would be to create a new warehouse and start using that instead (yes, there will be work involved to move inventory , orders but probably can be done) to simplify the process. Testing in non-production is required to make sure it will work, you can time estimate it as well. Alternate is writing script to turn this off (given cloud, may have to execute through deployment etc.) and see if that would work (little riskier approach). In either case, you have to have detailed testing done.
Combination of Adv warehouse items + Basic warehouse will then allow you to use basic warehouse and default locations etc. Also any items go-forward that you create, create using basic warehouse.
