Hi,

Can D365 BC be used in Apparel industry, specifically for tracking the same item in the inventory with different size and color?

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi

If the only parameters is managing Size/Color you can use BC item variants function. See below link for more info.

Also, if you are looking for B2B or B2C then you may need add-on. See an example below.

But if you have different requirements then you need to evaluate them one by one.

    Thank you for the info.

Do you know if D365BC is successfully used in Apparel industry in general?

    You are welcome.

I do not know anybody that uses BC365 in Apparel industry but this is because I am just a user and not consultant. I saw the following success stories that may help you more. The last link also provide more info.

In general (from user standpoint) I realized most big player in ERP system (SAP/Microsoft/Oracle/Etc) will tell you that they can handle your need. But the bigger question is "how" and this "how" is more important. Sometimes it is about settings in the system, sometimes it is setting and minor customization, sometimes is 3rd party add-on, and sometimes require more customization.

    I hope this help

Xpedition in the UK have a lot of fashion and apparel customers. Most of which use a purpose built solution.

    Oleg,

Absolutely! BC with an APP will work perfectly for Apparel. I have done a few over the many years. Here are the APP's that have been around for a very long time in the NAV/BC space:

    K3Pebblestone - (www.k3software.com/pebblestone-fashion)

    appsource.microsoft.com/.../pubid.k3businesstechnologygroup|aid.k3pebblestone|pappid.4a91e8e3-eb85-4a1a-9544-4e68b32c5547

    Trimit - (www.trimit.com/.../) appsource.microsoft.com/.../pubid.trimitdevelopmentas1583754646521|aid.trimit|pappid.94927c12-6061-4e3f-b07d-ce1b66584585

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Thank you Steve.

Could I trouble you some more?

How does BC work with Manufacturing? Is that a good fit? Chemicals production, batch and perhaps process manufacturing.

    Thank you!

    Oleg,

BC works very well in process manufacturing. It is a great fit. what I normally need to know is how the customer manufacturing process works and how Lot and Batch processing play a role. This sometimes points me to an APP like vicinity manufacturing. I have a food manufacturer in base BC and I have others on an APP.

    It works perfectly.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You may want to consider a solution like Uphance that is more optimized for apparel businesses

I think it depends on what you mean by the Apparel Industry- what part, where?

We're a small retailer who sells uniforms. We've done a customization to link a "parent" item to a "child" item to track the size/color combinations.

The problem for us with variants is you can't attach attributes and options. We frequently get a request at our store to see something like a black, 8" high, side zipper boot in 10 1/2 wide that is in stock.

With attributes, you can filter all that and see. If all colors and sizes were variants, not so much.

If you need seasons, pre-orders, etc, I think Pebblestone and LS Retail are worth looking at.
