We plan on upgrading our on-prem exchange to a newer version and we are interested in what the last supported version of Microsoft Exchange is for CRM v8.2 and CRM v9.0?

Answers would be highly appreciated.

    Hello CRM 8.2 Developer,

You're planning a critical upgrade, and compatibility is paramount! Here's the breakdown of the last supported Exchange versions for Dynamics CRM v8.2 and v9.0:

    Dynamics CRM 8.2 (On-Premises):
    • Microsoft Exchange Server 2016: This is generally considered the last fully supported version of Exchange Server for Dynamics CRM 8.2.
    • Exchange Server 2013: While it might function, it's not officially recommended or supported for optimal performance and stability.

    Dynamics 365 CRM 9.0 (On-Premises):
    • Microsoft Exchange Server 2019: This is the last fully supported version of Exchange Server for Dynamics 365 CRM 9.0.
    • Microsoft Exchange Server 2016: While it might function, it is not the most up to date supported version.

    Important Considerations:
    • Cumulative Updates: Always ensure you're running the latest cumulative updates (CUs) for both Dynamics CRM and Exchange Server. These updates often include critical fixes and compatibility improvements.
    • Support Lifecycle: Be mindful of the support lifecycle for both Dynamics CRM and Exchange Server. Older versions may have reached their end-of-life, meaning Microsoft no longer provides security updates or support.
    • Hybrid Environments: If you're planning a hybrid deployment (combining on-premises and cloud resources), carefully assess compatibility with both on-premises and Exchange Online.
    • Testing: Thoroughly test the integration between your upgraded Exchange Server and Dynamics CRM environment in a non-production environment before deploying to production.
    • Microsoft Documentation: Always refer to the official Microsoft documentation for the most accurate and up-to-date compatibility information.

    Key Recommendations:
    • For CRM 8.2, upgrade to Exchange Server 2016 with the latest CUs.
    • For CRM 9.0, upgrade to Exchange Server 2019 with the latest CUs.
    • Avoid using unsupported Exchange versions, as this can lead to instability and security vulnerabilities.
    • Prioritize testing to ensure a smooth transition.

    I hope this helps!
