What is the exact use of Golden environment server setup

Dear All,

We are in the process of implementing Dynamics 365 and our vendor has informed us that we need to purchase a Golden Environment server and will need this server until the application goes live. Can you please tell me what is the exact usage of golden environment server and until when this server is required

Golden server is a replica if production database and code, during UAT or after UAT your vendor will the go live setup based on the cut off plan. Once the Go signal is there, MS will release the product server and your vendor will copy the Golden server to Production directly.

Thank you for your quick answer, my doubt : why cant we store setup configuration in a UAT server and when go live we can move to production server ?

UAT is used for User Acceptance testing and will have transactional data.

Golden config should only have config data.

Ramit Paul , Thank you for your quick answer, my doubt : why cant we do the live setup configuration in a UAT server and once the Go-live signal, they cannot copy the data from UAT server to production?

Hi Jaseem,

1 - Yes, you have to deploy it via LCS using your own Azure subscription. It will be a separate cost stream. MS provides two environments in the Dynamics 365 F&O offering - standard UAT and Production.

2 - It depends on your strategy - you can repurpose it for development (if you plan to customize), or you can continue with it as is, i.e. without transactions while keeping the configuration up-to-date, and it will serve you as a reference. Consult with your partner on this matter, they should provide you with reasonable options given the context your implementation is in.
