Consolidation snapshot

Hello
When running the consolidation on a monthly basis it gets rid of the last month's consolidation postings. For example, if the consolidations were run for Jan-June, the previous month's posting in May for Jan-May would be removed.

My question is, is it possible for these postings not to be removed and instead reversed in the following month once the new consolidation is run? For example, the Jan-May consolidation would be posted on 31/05/24 and reversed on 01/06/24. This way all the historical figures would be snapshotted on the system, which is what I want from reporting.

Thanks in advance,
Ross

As per my knowledge. Yes, it is possible to reverse (Manual) entries for past consolidations if you want to preserve historical data while updating for new consolidations. Standard functionality does not automatically handle the reversal of previous month’s consolidation postings.

    Hi Khushbu,
The entries will be posted automatically as part of the consolidation functionality and will be removed automatically once the year-to-date consolidation is run in the following month.

I'm trying to discover if there is a way for the original posting not to be removed so it can then be reversed with a different timing.

No it's not possible out of the box. When you run a consolidation for a date range that's already been run, the system zeros out the previous run.

Valentin, thanks for your reply. Do you know of a way around this, such as manually posting the same journal that the consolidation creates and then manually reversing at a later date?

    Thanks

Typically you would only run consolidations monthly, this way you have your numbers for each month. Is there a reason you run it YTD?
