Hello everyone,

On the Insider page of the "Content Migration Tool", it is now said that the migration tool only work with solutions on version 700.x

On the download page, the content migration tool is on version 600.1.0.1

If I use the content migration tool v600.1.0.1 on a solution v700.1.x, I have several error message (of type "runtime exception").

Despite these error messages all the content seem to have been successfully migrated.

I am not very comfortable with all these error messages, does a 700.x version of the Content Migration Tool is planned to be release soon ?

Hi Remy,

Unfortunately, there is currently no documentation mentioning the planned release of the 700.x version of the content migration tool.

You can keep an eye on it to see if it is updated. The documentation mentions v500, you downloaded v600, which will probably be updated soon.

Hi Remy,

Thanks for notifying us of the discrepancy, I have updated it now and can confirm that the migration tool works for solution v700.x

I'll work with the team to get the documentations updated as well so that it is consistent.

I've tested it a few days ago and it worked perfectly, almost no more error message (just one, but the content migrate successfully).

There seems to be a bug in the content migration tool.

When moving a guide with a Object Anchor. it fails because it doesn't copy over the object anchor.

Per Anchor a guide in Dynamics 365 Guides by using Azure Object Anchors (Preview) - Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality | Microsoft Docs under known issues
"The Content Migration tool does not support object-anchored guides."

The Content Migration tool does not support migrating guides that use Azure Object Anchors (Preview) . To migrate a guide of this type the guide can be converted to use a QR Code, Circular code or Holographic anchor and then migrated with the tool. An object anchor can then be created in the new instance and the guide can be edited to use that object anchor.
