Hi Marcel - When you copy an environment all the characteristics of the parent environment are copied too. To the best of my knowledge, you can't copy a production environment to a SB Preview. Also, it is good that production environments cannot be copied/converted to SB Preview, it's called Preview for a reason, as the release is not yet suitable for Production type environments

If you can let the community know what specifically you are looking for, maybe assistance can be provided

You can not copy environments into another version than the one you are copying from.  So the original environment and the copy will always have the same version.

But once the new major update is released to you postpone the upgrade of your production environment. Then you copy the production environment to a sandbox and then schedule the update of your sandbox. That gives you time to try out thinks in your environment and with your data before you need to upgrade your production system.

Hi, You should wait for a while, as soon as next week you can copy the Production environment to the Sandbox, and then upgrade the Sandbox.

Yes, it is possible to copy a production environment into a preview sandbox in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This process is called "Creating a Sandbox Environment from a Production Environment."

Here are the steps to do this:

    1. Sign in to your Business Central account with an administrator account that has permission to create a new environment.

    2. Open the "Environments" page, and select "New Environment" from the ribbon.

    3. In the "New Environment" dialog box, select the "Copy from production" option.

    4. Select the production environment you want to copy from the drop-down list.

    5. Fill in the required information for the new sandbox environment, such as name, location, and type.

    6. Choose whether to include data in the new environment and select any additional options you want to apply.

    7. Review the details of the new environment, and select "Create Environment."

The copying process may take some time, depending on the size of your production environment and the options you selected. Once it's finished, you should be able to access the new sandbox environment and begin working with it.
