Scheduling while traveling

I have many resources that Travel (fly) to different locations.  They stay in hotels so there is no organization present.

when scheduling a work order, I want to be able to determine the closes resource that includes resources when they will be in another location.

They do stay there for several weeks.

Is there something I could update/configure to search for these resources?

So far I have set up the resources to always use Resource Address.

I tried updating the latitude and longitude of the resource, but it seems to always use the Users home address and ignores the latitude and longitude.

So as of right now I just have to refer to spreadsheets to determine where the resource is and manual schedule them.

I am sure I must be doing something wrong.

    A common workaround is to create a 1-minute dummy booking at the beginning of the working day (optionally at the end of the day as well) with the location of the hotel. This way schedule assistant, RSO and travel duration should take this location into consideration.

    I suggest one module Quick Maps plugin is compatible with mobile devices which gives all the sales and marketing managers the flexibility to access data from anywhere and everywhere. Use the Dynamics 365 map integration from the Dynamics 365 mobile app and perform multiple actions right from the app. 

    Get an overview of your daily activities marked with priorities and manage your schedule accordingly with our Dynamics 365 field mapping. Here you can schedule the meeting anywhere and for your client or any person if you want any meeting schedule for him only just put the location and time and share with him.

    Have you thought about creating am Organizational Unit for the hotel? If it is for several weeks, I think it would be worth the effort. Than switching the Resources Start and End Location to Org Unit and referencing the Hotel Org Unit in the Ressource.

    Or do you have other dependencies to their original Org Unit that would be an obstacle?

    I've had to coordinate with team members who were on the go. One thing that might help is ensuring you have the most up-to-date information on each resource's location. Google Maps is handy in those cases. You can see exactly where they are and determine the closest resource to them.Iy helped me when I had the chance to visit a few years ago Serengeti National Park.     Hi,

    I appreciate this reply is quite late but we've released a product on AppSource to address this short coming in Field Service. It essentially does the workaround suggested by Alexander but makes it far easier for your users to manage. There is a free trial if you'd like to give it a go.
