Dynamic role assignment to the users

Hi all,

We need to assign roles dynamically to all the users but it does not work for eXtensible Data Security (XDS) framework roles.
Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Hi,

yes sure. I have created a new role using XDS and would like to assign it to all users. Therefore, I used the D365FO application menu name 'Assign users to roles' and here we have option to assign roles to users manually or dynamically. I want to do it by dynamically but it does not assign roles dynamically on the other hand, manual role assignment works.

Auto assign works if only the users employee is setup correctly. Can you check employees positions.

Have you run the automatic role assignment as well?

If that has already been done, please share the rule you have setup for automatic assignment of the role to users.

There should not be any limitation in terms of which roles can be dynamically assigned vs. manually and it is not necessary to have employees mapped to users unless you need the data for your rule.

yes off course I ran it before but it does not assign role dynamically and manually it does. However, my rule is quite simple.

And have you defined any criteria in the "Edit query" dialog?

What happens when you press the "Run automatic role assignment" button?

This is what my system tells me as a warning, when using the predefined rule you are showing, without any additional changes on the query.

Do you get the same warning and then nothing happens if you accept it or do you get warnings/errors when it completes?

Hi,

yes I got the same and I click on 'OK' but nothing happens. Not even a single user assigned a role.

Does it work if you try it for any other role?

Otherwise you would probably need to debug in some other environment what is going on.

Yes it works with other roles and unable to debug because no source code is available.
