Lot Number

Hello everyone!

I hope you are going well!

I've set up Lot Numbers as shown in the image below. My goal is to use these Lot Numbers in both production and sales orders. In the production order, I've successfully assigned a Lot Number to the production order line. However, when I try to select the same Lot Number in a sales order, it doesn't appear in the list of available options.

Interestingly, if I manually enter the Lot Number, the expiration date is retrieved correctly.

What could be causing this issue?

I would appreciate if you could help me!
thanks in advance!

Before you start using that Lot Tracking Code, you need to enable "Lot Specific Tracking".  Without that option checked the system will apply FIFO usage and your inventory will not consume from the Lot No you selected during consumption/shipping.  This means your inventory will reflect available Lots that have already been consumed.  This may be what you are experiencing.

Is this item available on the same location which is selected in the sales line? And in the same variant if variants are used. Manual entry of the tracking number does not validate the availability by location and variant, just picks the first item ledger entry with the same lot no. and pulls the expiration date from it.
"Select Entries" action, on the other hand, is based on reservation entries and filters the table on the location and variant, and also on the reservation status.

If the location is correct and the item is available, I would check the reservation status for this lot. Does the item use reservation or planning (for example, the production order was created from planning worksheet)?
Since item tracking, reservations, and inventory planning use the same table to track items for different purposes, this results in messed up reservation entries sometimes.
