Debugging: Symbols Not Loading When I Try To Debug Batch Process (Workflow)

Hi dear community!

I want to debug a custom extension class to a workflow.
When I place a break point in the custom class, it says the symbols are not loaded.

Things I tried:
- Loaded all .netmodule symbols from Debug menu > Windows > Modules
- Tried all debugging/symbol options in the Visual Studio options menu.

It was working before I did the following query to turn off all the batch jobs which I got from this thread because I'm working on a restored DB from another environment which had workflows that were throwing errors every second and I couldn't debug batch process without turning the batch jobs off:

-- Reset the batch job status to "Withhold" for "Waiting", "Executing" and "Ready" jobs
UPDATE [BATCH] SET [STATUS] = 0 WHERE [STATUS] IN (1,2,5)
UPDATE [BATCHJOB] SET [STATUS] = 0 WHERE [STATUS] IN (1,2,5)

I activated the workflow batch jobs after, but still the symbols are not loading:

What am I missing? is there a particular batch job that I need to re-activate for it to load?

Any advice is appreciated !
Thanks in advance !

    Hi Momochi,

If it's just straight X++ debugging you want to do, you should not have to do anything other than mark the packages you want to load symbols from (Unless you have unchecked the specific packages option).
In addition to this, you will have to attach to the batch.exe process.

    Have you tried both?

    Hi,

Make sure the batch job service is started
And as Jonas said, choose the packages to debug or remove the tick box to debug everything (but for performance it's better to choose the packages)

Then when debugging and clicking attach to process, click on both iisExpress and Batch.exe

Building the model fixed the issue, it seems that the class was not compiled.

    Appreciate all your recommendations!
