What is the Difference between Dynamics 365 Customization & Configuration and Extending Microsoft Dynamics?

Hi folks,

I want to do Microsoft Training on Microsoft Dynamics 365 but there are two types of training that are on Microsoft dynamics 365 customizations or configuration and extending Microsoft dynamics 365. So basically I want to know what is the difference between customization or configuration and extending Microsoft dynamics 365?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hello Priyanka,

Customization/configuration - everything you can do without development (like entity customization, sitemap and app configuration, workflows, e.t.c.).

Extending - is how you can extend platform using development (JavaScript, Plugins, Custom Workflow Activities and SSRS reports).

In addition to Andrews comments I would suggest you follow the MB200 learning rather than the Customisation and Configuration as MB716 is being retired.
