Migration from Intuit QuickBooks to Dynamics 365 Business Central

I'm facing an issue when attempting to use the Quickbooks data migration process ("Data Migration Exporter" tool) to export QB company data. When attempting to run this tool against the client's company file, it immediately errors out telling us that "An account number cannot be empty".

This is in fact true - this source company file in question does not use account numbers and instead uses account name/ID's - the account number field evidently is not a required field in QB.

Other than retrofitting every GL account in the source company file with a dummy account number just to please the export tool, is there any other workaround for this problem? If account numbers are required by D365 BC, then couldn't the migration tool at least create them automatically?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

    Hi Bob,

I have not worked on Quick Books Data Migration in detail but I should be able to help you on the Business Central side.

As per Microsoft Document, Data Exporter Tool only works with QB 2017 and QB 2018.

As far as migrating Chart of Accounts is concerned, it should be automatically done probably there might be an issue in the process that you are following.

Let me know if you need any help.

Hi,I have also migrated data from quick book desktop application to Business Central but I didn't find my QB invoices in sales invoices in BC ...but they are in G/L accountsinvoice-issue.PNG how can I fix this?

The "account number" error occurs because D365 BC requires account numbers. Manually adding dummy numbers is one fix, but it’s tedious. A workaround could be exporting QB data to Excel, adding numbers there, then importing to D365 BC. Tools like Skyvia can also streamline the migration by automating the mapping process and avoiding manual adjustments.
