Calculate DiffinDays but getting an error on DateTime field

I'm trying to use DiffInDays but getting a strange error, is there a workaround for this? 

DiffInDays(NOW(), acct_date)

You can't use acct_date, which is of type dateTime, with the current function. 

acct_date is a Timezone Independent field.

    Hi - yes, even changed to Date Only, published, and tried to recreate the calculation again--but still the same error message, unfortunately.
