Management Reporter export formulas to Excel with CALC columns

I am using MR 2012 CU12 (ver 2.1.12000.26) with GP 2010 R2 SP3.  When I select the option to Include Formulas when exporting to Excel I only see formulas for columns that have a type of FD.  No formulas show for CALC columns.  I see that CU10 included the functionality to export formulas for TOT rows but I have not seen anything that says it only works for FD columns.  I've searched far and wide with no conclusive answer and would appreciate any help.

On a related note, does anyone know if there are any plans to allow formulas to export for all row types (i.e. not just TOT rows) like FRx did?  Thanks in advance for any insights.

Does anybody experience an error in the formula  for column IF? It 's reading it as a formula "IF" instead of column IF.

How do you go around it? Any suggestion?

Are there any updates to this issue?  I agree that all column and row types should export correctly.  Why do we even have to ask when FRx did this naturally.

I see the last post on this is from Nov 2016.  Has there been any update or fix to exporting calc formulas? This seems like baseline functionality.

I think the most frustrating thing is that rather than answering the question or even attempting to be helpful, they are telling us to click on a 'suggestion' link to vote for CALC etc to be exportable - however, this link is at least 2 years old! The article mentions these as things to be considered for priority, but obviously, despite so many clients asking for this option, it has still not been considered one!

It is very frustrating when Microsoft says this is "working as designed". Isn't management reporter supposed to be the upgraded/more advanced version Frx? If so wouldn't you include all of the features that were in Frx?  This is supposed to be a financial reporting tool yet something as basic as showing formulas is left out. Its a shame this feature has to be "voted" instead of Microsoft just fixing it and admitting this is a limitation/bug.  I'm tired of trying to defending this flawed product to clients.  This is why any client that needs to upgrade GP I give them the option of staying on Frx. Any new client I suggest to purchase a different financial reporting tool.  I'm sorry to come off so harsh but this is just not acceptable.

    Hello,

If you would like to see this included as a feature for Management Reporter 2012, please use the information in my earlier post on how to vote on the product suggestions.

    Thanks!

I agree the calculated formulas should also be exportable to Excel.  It is necessary for us to use all formulas and not just selected types.  I was looking for a way to report my concern, but I cannot find an option.  So, replying to this comment so others can see there is a need.

RE: Management Reporter export formulas to Excel with CALC columns

    Hello,

Thank you for the details of your questions. Please note that MR 2012 is working as designed. For the current version of MR 2012, only TOT formulas from a row definition export to Excel. CAL formulas from a row, and CALC formulas from a column definition, do not export. Please refer to:

Download TOT formulas to Microsoft Excel from a Management Reporter report (CU10 Feature)

    blogs.msdn.com/.../download-tot-formulas-to-microsoft-excel-from-a-management-reporter-report-cu10-feature.aspx

The product management team has created two additional suggestions to track these additional features, and they request that you vote on them if you would like this feature included in a future release. A release date/version has not yet been announced.

Before you can view or vote on a suggestion, you must sign up for a free Windows Live account and join the Microsoft Connect site otherwise you may get an error. A step-by-step walkthrough of how to join and use Microsoft Connect can be found at:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../how-to-enter-and-vote-for-management-reporter-suggestions.aspx

    For CAL row formulas:

    connect.microsoft.com/.../include-cal-row-formulas-when-downloading-reports-to-excel

    For CALC column formulas:

    connect.microsoft.com/.../include-calc-column-formulas-when-downloading-reports-to-excel

To be notified when the next update is released or features added, I recommend that you subscribe to the Management Reporter blog. The Management Reporter blog, "Dynamics Financial Reporting", is available at:

    Thanks!
