Hello all. I've searched the forums high and low for this and I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing.
I'd like to enable the "Post" type to be able to show up on Timelines of a custom Entity I've created named "Program Memberships" within my D365 Model-Driven app.
When the "Program Membership" entity was created, I selected "Activities", as you can see here:
From what I found on this forum (and several other sites), that ought to be it. All they say I need to do is enable "Activities" on my custom entity, then go to the "old" settings and find the "Activity Feeds Configuration" option under "System", where I then should be able to find my beloved "Program Memberships" there and simply toggle "Wall Enabled" to "On" and be on my merry way.
Here's the result I get when looking at "Post Configurations" when I look at all entities that start with "P":
No Program Memberships. I've furiously pressed that "Refresh" button in the ribbon at the top, to no avail. Any other ideas? Can I get "Posts" to work with my custom entity within Dynamics CRM Online, or has that been sunset and no one told us?
Has anyone found a solution for this? Is it possible to enable Posts on Timeline for a custom Table? I couldnt find my custom table in the Inactive Post Configuration in the last solution provided.
thank you
AUTO POST OPTION ENABLE SETEPS
1. Select the Dropdown, you can the Inactive Post Configuration setting
2. Select the Inactive Post Configuration setting
3. Select the Entity
4. Click Edit
5. Click Activate
6. Enable the walls
7. Go back and Refresh
8. You can see the Entity
9. Click Publish all Customization
Go and Chack it
Did you ever get a reply from Microsoft regarding this functionality? I'm trying to set this up for a custom entity and having the same issues as you. Thanks!
Ray, thanks for the reply and your continued assistance.
Quite odd that this doesn't work for Dynamics 365 Online. I looked at the documentation I had found, and it appears that it's for One Prem:
learn.microsoft.com/.../notes-control-legacy
Doesn't seem right that this isn't doable in Dynamics 365 Online. I think I'm going to reach out to Microsoft and reply back with what I can find to this thread.
Okay, seems the Post can only enable for certain OOTB entity. You need to active post configuration record before you can enable post in timeline, and post configuration seems can not create ( I tried in advance find and no "New" button for this entity and Post rule entity).
Hey Ray -
Thanks for the reply. Apologies, I thought it was apparent that I already have a Dynamics 365 app up and running since I sent the screenshots above, but looking at the screenshots I had sent that was solely within a Form.
Yes, I have a Dynamics 365 app. I have 33 published apps in my environment.
Hi brettofthewild,
As I mentioned in my answer, you need to enable some Dynamics 365 app, such as an app for Dynamics 365 Customer Service. After that you should be able to select Posts in timeline.
Ray, the link you provided is useful for a use case where "Posts" is already enabled for an entity. Under "Display options", I can't begin to select "Posts":
Look on the right side. "Posts" are not even an option to select. I need the step prior to the answer you suggested, it seems.
