AX 2009 and Windows Server 2016

Hi

Extended support for AX 2009 is until 2022. Many customers like to update they windows infrastructure to windows server 2016.

Found the system requirements from january 2017, but no info for later versions. Is this the most current one? Any experience from your side regarding the new versions and AX 2009 components?

Thanks.

No, as Microsoft will not support Windows Server 2016. AX 2009 is supported until Windows Server 2012 R2, as defined in System Requirements of january 2017. Even with extended support there will not be any change (Answer from MS support).

Wondering if either poster on this thread, or anyone else  has any experience of running AX2009 Servers on anything higher than Server 2012R2 ?

Luckily our Dynamics365 F&O is now live, but would like to keep the legacy system available in case of audit or historic data access.

With the impending EOL of server 2012R2  this October it would be nice to know of any experiences/issues if anyone has tried this.

I'm fully aware nothing will be supported by MS, but any information of know issues or successes would be useful as I'd like to avoid expensive Extended Security Updates (ESU's) if possible.

    Regards and Thanks,

I know this is a very old post but still would like to answer I tried installation of AX 2009 on Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 as well.

You need to install and test which components are working and which are not.

This is the video which I created for the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq9-3nRGT54

We recently reinstalled an AX2009 PROD environment on
    Server2019  ( AOS, IIS-AIF ) and
    SQL server 2019

No main issues.( except may have to fallback to SQL2012 compatibility level)

But the final compatibility result may still depend on the components / options that
are activated or used within AX 2009.
