Hi,
I'm using Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 and need some guidance toward sub component BOMs.
Imagine the following situation. There is one item called A123, this item is a produced item and has attached to it a Production BOM also called A123.
When looking into production BOM A123 there are several item lines, where some are purchased items and others are produced items. My question is how can I make so that when planning the top level item, a demand for all items (also including items in the production level subcomponents) be created?
Best Regards
Hello,
Thank you for contacting BC/NAV Communities.
There are a few things I'd suggest for starters.
1. Be sure on the Item Card for each of the components/sub-components, you have the 'Replenishment System' set to either "Purchase" or "Prod. Order", depending what type of item it is.
2. Be sure you have the 'Reorder Policy' set to one of the options... If you are unsure which one to choose, you would really want to check with your partner as there are a bunch of variables that make up the best choice in each situation... but here is also some info on that.
docs.microsoft.com/.../design-details-supply-planning
(Also - Be sure to have 'Order Tracking Policy' = NONE on the Item Card, as that is Not to be used when Planning).
3. Be sure to Run the 'Calculate Low Level Code' process to set each of the items their respective Low Level Codes.
4. Also important to know about this. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-nav-app/production-planning-with-without-locations
I hope that helps point you in the right direction. Thank you and have a nice day.
