Can a Fixed Asset call on multiple number sequences to generate its ID when importing?

Hello experts!

When importing a large number of Fixed Assets (FAs) via DMF, I want D365 to generate the FA numbers when importing depending on the FA's group. I have been performing tests, but so far I can only get D365 to create the FA numbers based on the FA number sequence from the FA module parameters page.

Is there any way to automatically generate the FA numbers when importing according to the FAs' group? Or is this an extension of the data entity?

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

    Hi

In D365 FO, the default behavior for Fixed Asset number generation during DMF import is to use the number sequence defined in Fixed Asset parameters, not per FA group. To generate FA numbers based on the FA group, you’ll need to extend the logic because out of the box D365 does not support FA group based number sequences during import.

    Achieve FA Group-Based Numbering

Before import, use Excel formulas to generate FA numbers based on FA group prefixes.
Populate the AssetId field manually in the import template.

AssetId is a required field in the AssetEntity during import. If left blank, D365 will use the default number sequence.

    Hi,

As Sathish mentioned, D365 generates number sequences based on FA parameters. However, you can use a workaround:

Use the Fixed Assets V2 entity template. For line 1, take the number sequence from the FA group, apply an Excel formula to update all the lines (just drag and drop), and then import the file. This is an easier alternative to customisation.

    Regards,

    Bharath Jain.
