Development Environment License

Getting closer to our actual live deployment and starting to look at the live v development environment for on premise.  Are we able to have a second application installed to a development environment without acquiring a new application license?

The development environment will be self contains with all CRM, GP and SQL sitting on the same server, we only have a small development team so it won't be resource hungry.

Create a new organization on the same crm server and use this new org as development environment. In this case you don't need to buy crm server license.

    Hello,

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server (Note Microsoft Dynamics CRM Workgroup Server) you can set multiple organizations and use these organization as a different environment.

You can refer below post for detail steps to adding new organization, this post is referring older crm version, but steps are same for ms crm 2015 as well.

    Thanks.

Do you have an MSDN subscription that would cover the licensing needs for dev environment?

The article relates to Online and we are OnPremise.

Thx for the postings.  I already have various instances set up for different organisation within our group (including a core test instance.)  My concern was when we come to upgrade the application or post updates that we have a dev environment to do it on first rather than just a dev instance on the main deployment.
