Restore Prod database in UAT steps and Post restore steps

hi ,

I want to restore the UAT database with PROD database and I will be using the "Point in time restore Prod to Sandbox" option.

I have checked the history - > envt changes in LCS and it showed that for type 'refresh database" it only took 1 hours.

Does refresh just creates blank database or it will just copy the current Prod environment.

Also what are the differences with the other option, I mean does it does not copy the dual write settings ?

What are the steps and time required for this activity provided the fact that it took less than an hour for refresh activity.

Are there any steps which needs to be done post this deployment/(restore) . I have seen on web that we need to take UAT database access and enable the users.

Do we have other specific steps to be followed for this and what setup I will need to do to relink the Dual write setup.

thanks,

Does refresh just creates blank database or it will just copy the current Prod environment. - Copy of current Production database

Also what are the differences with the other option, I mean does it does not copy the dual write settings ?  - Dual Write settings (Mapping) does not get stored on the D365FO side. On Power Platform, create a Solution and store it in your custom solution. After the refresh, in Dual Write, import you Power Platform Solution.

What are the steps and time required for this activity provided the fact that it took less than an hour for refresh activity. - It always takes less than 2 hours for me, attachment documents included. After the refresh, I wrote a SQL script, that updates most of my production config to Test config. Like integrations and customizations etc.

Are there any steps which needs to be done post this deployment/(restore) . I have seen on web that we need to take UAT database access and enable the users. - One option is, you need to login as the Environment owner and enable everybody, because after the refresh all is disabled, except Admin. You can do this within your SQL script.

Do we have other specific steps to be followed for this and what setup I will need to do to relink the Dual write setup. - Like mentioned before, you will need to import your Solution(Backup) otherwise all mappings are gone, and then you will need to Sync all data.

Only steps that are a must - Have Environment Owner Access, just in case you do not know how to connect to SQL. Backup your dual write mappings in a Solution on Power Platform, and make sure your integrations/customization are not pointing to Production resources.

    Hope this helps.

While I am unfamiliar with dual write, I have mentioned the other necessary steps to follow after a database restoration in my blog

PITR option copies prod data to your sandbox environment. Data elements which are not copied during this process are listed on the link below  -

Steps which are required to be performed after u copy prod data to your sandbox in DW enabled environment are listed below - learn.microsoft.com/.../relink-environments
