Production order from specific warehouse location in basic warehouse

Dear Experts,

I am new to Production control. I am using basic warehouse with 2 inventory location as mentioned below. I am using automatic BOM consumption. I want to make sure that my production order always pick items from location B and not from A. If there is a shortage of material in location B, system should not process Production order.

Warehouse	Location	Location type
WH	A	Bulk location
WH	B	Production input location

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Vaibhav,

Define production input location on the warehouse master. that will make sure the location on your production picking list journal is populated. In your case this will be location "A".

Make sure you don't have physical negative inventory marked. Also physical inventory should be marked at storage dimension group.

You can also specify the input location at the resource group or on the relation between the resource group and the resource.

Hi Vaibhav,

You can also define the pick location in the BOM/Formula lines for this as well. While you can setup min/max requirements for the warehouse in input location. System will create a transfer order from the bulk location to input location.
