Disabled users consuming licenses - CRM 2013 Online

Hi team,

we are unable to fully disable half a dozen users no longer with us. I have tried re-enabling the user and then reassigning their records, then disable again but still they end up in the disabled users consuming licenses section. :(

Any help gratefully received.

- Marty.

    Hi Benjamin,

You are correct in saying that the Update and Transition(formerly Migration process) are 2 different processes however there is an undergoing global process of Transition from CTP to OSDP, though I am not aware of it's completion state.

    thanks all.

Finally got MS to migrate users to the O365 portal - where I can now add or remove licences.

HOWEVER - issue (case logged) whereby O365 licencing is not syncronising with CRM Online.

    So almost there.

    Regards,

    Marty.

    @Cezar:

We have customers that received the CRM Online Fall '13 update already but still remain on CTP plattform. Update and Transiton are separate processes for the customers.

    Hi All,

The method described by Benjamin is correct. In addition to what he has said please be informed the once you have removed a CRM license from an Office 365 user(thus disabling his access to CRM). Once that is done you can also delete the Office 365 user (which will remain in a recycle bin for 30 days grating you the possibility to re-enable them).

@Benjamin : AFAIK there are no more CTP orgs since the global upgrade to CRM 2013 has completed.

@Marty : If the users appear as still consuming licenses (and you can confirm that with the license count) than please open a Technical Support incident with us as there might be a synchronization problem regarding your licenses.

    Hi Marty,

I didn't consider that you could have CRM Online on the CTP plattform, sorry.

The way I described works with CRM Online on the Office 365 Plattform.

    Regards,

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

are you referring to this portal? www.dynamicsonline.com/CustomerPortal.aspx - which appears to be only for the billing admin user.

I have not used the Microsoft Online Services Portal before.

    thanks again.

    Hi Marty,

you need to remove the CRM Online licence from the user at the Microsoft Online Services Portal. This gets replicated to the CRM database and the user is disabled.

An Microsoft Online Services administrator remains as active user in CRM but with other rights so that he cant see any records, but can do customizations. To disable this user too, you need to downgrade them to normal users at the Microsoft Online Services Portal, remove the CRM licence and make them to admin again.

    Regards,

    Ben
