How regenerate custom fields? Creating runnable class 'Unauthorized'

From the 'Custom Fields' table view, one can go to 'options' and then 'record info'. There is an option to download a script to regenerate this data.

In order to do this, I need to write a script on the back end to import the data and copy/paste the downloaded script in order to apply it.

The issue I am hitting is the System prevents me from automatically importing on custom fields. When I create a runnable class on 'Custom fields' it says 'Unauthorized to modify custom fields'.

Is there any way to get past this limitation? All I am trying to do is export custom fields from one environment and import them into another.

    Hi Tayapr,

How many custom fields did you create? I do hope it is not that much to prevent you from recreating them manually in another environment? If you have up to ten different custom fields, it will be for sure quicker to repeat the creation of the custom fields in another environment compared to a development effort.

You can't modify the standard package - you must use your own package. This is at least third thread where we're telling you the same.

By the way, SysCustomFieldDefinitionTmp is just a temporary table used by the form. Because it's temporary, the data isn't persist there and inserting records there won't have any effect. You would have to add additional logic to actually use this temporary data to create custom fields. If you're willing to go this way, look at how SysCustomFieldAddFieldDialog form uses SysCustomFieldModel class.

Are you talking about custom fields or some developer added fields? Ad explained many times, these are two completely different things since other one is configutation (data) and other one is application metadata ("code").

Based on your other posts you want to deploy your dev work to another system. The first step is that you must learn to follow the correct process and put your customizations in your own package. Then you can create a deployable package using your build system (recommended) or from your dev system (ok for practice, but not in a customer project).

I strongly recommend you to study the development related materials in Dynamics Learning Portal before proceeding further. Otherwise you will risk wasting time and money for simple mistakes.
