Dynamics SL 2015 - Service Pack & Upgrading

Hi All

Some of my clients are willing to upgrade to 2015 but they prefer to upgrade when a service pack is out for this version.  Do you have any idea when a service pack will be out for this version?

In addition, one of my client is on Dynamics 7.0SP1 and wants to purchase the purchasing module.  Could they purchase the licensing keys for that module for 7.0 or do they have to upgrade to 2015 before they could purchase the module?

Your responses and/or suggestions on the above will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Lisa

    Lisa,

The first update for SL 2015 (called CU1) will be out soon... officially "first half of 2015".

As for purchasing an additional module, I believe you can get the module and it will back port to the prior version, but I would verify with sales ops beforehand.

    Mark:

Thanks for the response.  I reckon that it would have taken that long before a cumulative update could exist for a new version.

In addition, the client mentioned that they called their VAR and the sales team there mentioned that they need to upgrade to 2015 before they can purchase the module.  However, they are convinced that the VAR is just using this as a "sales pitch" and that it may not be technically sound.

I tend to agree that purchasing a module regardless of what version you are on, should not be a problem but I would definitely like for this to be verified.  How can I verify with Microsoft concerning the same?    Has anyone attempted to purchase the license for a new module while a new version is out and got any problems?

    Thanks

    Lisa

    Lisa,

I cannot really say for sure since that is not my area.   The best bet is to contact the operations team directly.   From CustomerSource or PartnerSource, in the top right click on your name and select Contact Us.  Then select Operations Support and hopefully they should be able to assist.

    Thanks,

    -Mark
