What connector to use in logic apps for Dynamics CRM?

Posted on by 12

Hi
For over a year now I have been using the Dynamics CRM connector and the Common Data Service connector in my logic apps.
I started out with the first one but soon understood that this one would be deprecated. So I started using the Common Data Service connector.
For a while now I hadn't changed anything in my logic apps and all is working fine.
This week I was asked to make some changes in the logic apps.
Much to my surprise I noticed that all my calls to the common data service connector were replaced by calls to Microsoft Dataverse (Legacy).
And although my logic apps are still working fine now, I do get a little worried about the future of my logic apps.
So the status is now;

  • The Dynamics CRM connector id deprecated

  • The Common Data Service connector has disappeared from my list of connectors

  • And the Microsoft Dataverse connector has that addition (Legacy), which gives me the idea that this connector will be deprecated soon as well.

Can someone explain to me, what is the best way to go for the future if I need to connect to Dynamics CRM in my Logic Apps?
Thanks in advance and greetings
Henk

You can continue to use the Microsoft Dataverse (Legacy) for Logic Apps. We will continue to have this support in the legacy connector until we have Logic Apps support in the Dataverse connector. We are working towards that integration.

The doc has been updated to highlight this, so other customers do not have any concerns or confusion as they see the word 'legacy' associated to this connector.

    Hi Leah.

Microsoft Dataverse (legacy) is the only connector available in Logic Apps. And the 'Legacy' addition gave me the impression that it might be deprecated any time soon. But I guess that's not the case then.

    Thnx!

    Hi HenkD,

Common Data Service has been renamed to Microsoft Dataverse.

Reshape the future of work with Microsoft Dataverse for Teams—now generally available | Microsoft Power Apps

For the connector you mentioned above--Microsoft Dataverse (Legacy).

In fact, there Microsoft Dataverse and Microsoft Dataverse (legacy) connectors in the document, you can refer following link to know difference about them.

    Hi, thanks for your question

Since Microsoft was improving Power Platform new features, terminology, connectors were evolving too, for short AFAK CDS(Common Data Service) connector was renamed to Microsoft Dataverse the connector that you should be seeing would be Microsoft dataverse so use that.

maybe you have some applications using Dynamics365 connector, it's deprecated but no obsolete, you can change it if you want but for news applications use the new one.

you should keep a balance between Logic Apps to Microsoft dataverse and Power Automate/MS flow, when thinking in low-code applications.

    regards.
