Grouping of resource

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I have a resource ABC as user type resource and he is a supervisor to 5 carpenters who are not user type resource. I want to group them in such a way that on schedule board it should show 5 groups with same supervisor with 5 different carpenters because only the supervisor will be using the mobile app and will be updating the booking. I tried to add them through resource group parent-child relation but it is allowing to add the supervisor with only one of the carpenter in a particular time frame.

How to achieve this?

    RE: Grouping of resource

    We have had similar requirements.

What you could do is add a field on the incident type called 'Number of Resources Needed'

Then when the a user drags a work order to the schedule board. on create of 'Bookable Resource Booking' A synchronous workflow can then run which decrements that field by 1.

Then you can add a new view in the Requirements panel at the bottom of the schedule board which looks at that field and sees if the 'Number of Resources Needed' is 0 then which the view will remove the work order from the list.

You will probably have to add your resources as Contacts instead of a User.

    Does this possibly help you?

1 User license = 1 Resource in Field Service. Creating multiple Group resources will display in Schedule Board only, can't access Mobile App. Even if you create some kind of relationship, only licensed User Resource can login to Mobile App.
