Advanced Filtering - Sorting not showing additional joined table

(0) ShareShare

Dear Experts

if we add  an additional table in the join condition , I noticed that it is not possible to sort by that additional table.

Is this the out of the box behaviour or have I been missing something ?

I have the same question (0)

Alessandro Parisi can you please send us screen shot in which form you tried to do this?

It is irrispective of which query you want to execute on any form in D365.

This is the reason why I did not attach any screenshot.

If you add any table ( as additional join) it will not be possible to use the same additional table ( and fields)  on the sorting section.

Alessandro Parisi  you have to join both tables in order to run the query.

You can check below link where this is explained for example how we can filter customer record based on the address by joining both "Location" and "Address" tables together. Once this is done, we can be able to run the query based on this additional tables join.

    https://dynamics-tips.com/how-to-use-advanced-filter-d365-finance-and-operations/#:~:text=The%20advanced%20filter%20feature%20is,in%20the%20advanced%20filter%20form.

You will find this explanation in this section "Construct a query with a table join" in above link.

Kindly check this and let us know if your case is sorted out.

    Sourav

    Dear Sourav Dam

This is exactly what I did and it does not allow on the sorting section to add the additional tables (added as a join).

    Hence my original post.

    Hi Alessandro Parisi,

    Thanks for the update.

Kindly allow me to understand a point here. When you mentioned "it does not allow on the sorting section to add the additional tables (added as a join)", do you mean that even after you join both tables, you  are still not able to see the new tables in the "Range" section of the query form?

    Sourav

    Hi Alessandro Parisi,

May be it sounds crazy but I would like to confirm with you on the following.

-- Did you create "Production route" by selecting the "Application basket" first and then clicked on "Add table join" ? The reason why I am asking because here the 'Production route' is not exactly showing under 'Application basket'. It looks like that it is created as a separate table because the space before this table is extended to the left more!

    pastedimage1621237099888v1.png

-- Even if you have created it rightly under the 'Application basket', did you check it after that by selecting the 'Application basket' in Table column and then if the new table 'Production route' is available in the Field column or not?

    pastedimage1621237310453v2.png

Just select this 'Table' first and then click the drop down in 'Field' and see the "Production route" is available there!

    Regards,
    Sourav

Also check as per example given below if you have selected the correct Table name in this case!

    Dear Sourav Dam

I really appreciate your help but I don't understand what you are suggesting.

Could you please try yourself and send me a screenshot ?

Just from any form in D365 , add an additional table on the joins section and check if that table is available in the sorting section.

    Hi Alessandro Parisi,

Let's take this as an example.

I have joined two tables "Terms of payment" and "Customers".

    pastedimage1621239579105v1.png

Now I can select "Customers" in the Table column in "Range" section and then related "Terms of payment" in the 'Field' column and select the "Criteria" from the drop down of this "Terms of payment".

It is appearing after joining the table and based on that I am able to generate this too.

    pastedimage1621239845398v2.png    pastedimage1621239874170v3.png

Please don't get confused why I selected "Customer" in the vendor transaction report. My only intention is to show you that you can join Tables and based on that, you can generate the query. And after joining Tables, it will appear in the Range section of the query form as well and that's it.

You can check this by setting in the customer transaction form.

    Regards,
    Sourav
