External emissions attribution Model is not transferring data from partner source to all emissions

We have observed two issues with Out of Box calculation model ‘External emissions attribution’ and need fix or alternatives.

Scenario:

From ESG Value Chain portal, we have received the Partner Emission Data, Partner Activity Data with out of box excel templates.

The excel data from templates are successfully reflected in the MSM Value Chain -> Partner Data views.

Issue #1:

We have run successfully the Calculation Profile ‘External emissions attribution profile’, the expected partner data is moved to ‘All Emissions’. However, for entire set of Partner Emission data  ‘Emissions Source’ fields was populated with ‘1. Purchased goods and services’ (overwritten the emissions sources values from partner data). This is a bug in the out of box calculation model ‘External emissions attribution’ and need a fix.

Issue #2:

To overcome the Issue #1, created new custom Calculation Model. It has taken care all the 15 categories of Scope 3 partner data successfully.

However, we are not able to handle the Scope 1 and Scope 2 data of Partners in the calculation model under Attribution. For the Attribution, we are not able to select Scope 1, and Scope 2 and respective emission sources for the field ‘Scope 3 category for attribution’.

Due to this challenge all the Scope 1, Scope 2 emissions data and activities data of partners are not getting moved to All Emissions and so not reflecting in the Emission Dashboards.

Request you to please help with the fix or alternative for the same.

Thanks,
Tejeswari

Issue #1 is not a bug, these calculation models are provided as samples and you need to copy and customize it to your need. the OOB attribution model is set to attribute to Purchased good and services

For Issue 2, attribution only works on from partner (external) emission to your emission (all emission), so if you get partner emission data, you can attribute that to your scope 3, regardless which scope it is from your partner.

If you are getting activity data from your partner, what you need to do here is first calculate the partner activity to partner emissions, then repeat the above, attribute the partner emissions to your own scope 3 emissions

External emissions attribution Model is not transferring data from partner source to all emissions
Thank you Hao , I am facing below issues .Can you please assist me

#Issue1 : I have created new custom model to move the partner emissions to all emissions . I gave condition based on Emission source and attribute the partner emission values to Scope 3 emissions . I can able to run this successfully .

#Issue2 : I have run calculation profiles to move partner activity data to partner emissions . But i am getting Emission Source and Activity type empty and these two calculations are overlap the data .

i am trying to avoid this data overlap issue by giving condition based on emission source using powerfx   IsBlank(Activity.msdyn_emissionsourcev3) but i got below error

some records failed due to Can't run calculation 'External emissions attribution - Scopes Test'. Can't run Power Fx expression in the Emission Source Check - Condition action because the value is missing or unavailable. Adjust the Power Fx expression and try again. Error detail: One or more errors occurred. (Errors: Error 16-39: Name isn't valid. 'msdyn_emissionsourcev3' isn't recognized.Error 0-40: The function 'IsBlank' has some invalid arguments.).

    Thanks,

Yes, for issue 2 it is a known issue that the emission source (a lookup to sustainability data definition) is not populated. We will prioritize that bug fix but that won't fix the issue you are facing right now.
So the emissions source is actually just mapped from the activity, and the partner activity should be linked to this partner emissions on the msdyn_source field. so maybe you can leverage that.
As for the power fx error, I'm not an expert on that and we need further look into the logs for that. So if you can provide the org id and time (in UTC or please share your time zone) this happened, we can take a deeper investigation. My wild guess would be that it is trying to evaluate the primary field of the lookup (which is the Name), but the lookup is empty, which caused a null exception.

If the external emissions attribution model is not transferring data from the partner source to all emissions, ensure that:

    1. The data source connection is properly established and authenticated.

    2. The model's mappings and configurations align with the partner's data structure.

    3. There are no format or schema mismatches causing data rejection.

    4. Logs and error reports are reviewed to identify specific transfer issues for resolution.
