Hi! I'm absolute novice to upgrading and I need to upgrade ax 2012 r2 to r3. It's clean without any CU and customer modifications. Can anyone explain me, which steps should I take to complete this?

Thanks in advance.

Have you seen Scenario: Perform in-place upgrade to AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3?

If you don't have any modifications, you don't have to care about code upgrade, just the data upgrade.

Thank you, Martin! The main point that worries me: do I need to uninstall the existing Microsoft Dynamics AX components during upgrade? As I know, I earlier versions there was no need to do this.

There was no in-place upgrade in earlier versions; you had to have two environments. Now you don't need two complete AX installations, but you still need to install new version of executable files, libraries and so on. And you have to uninstall the old version first.

    Hi Nioby,

as martin suggested you need to perform in-place upgarde process for your scenario.

consider going through Dynamics AX 2012 Upgrade guide.

You can download it over here.

Please verify and let me know if you need any technical support for Dynamics AX upgarde project.

Hi! Thanks for your help. During db upgrade and installation of AOS, client and debugger there were no errors, but after kernel compilation I've got 75 errors. What to do with them, how to get rid of them?

You need to fix these 75 error

these error may be due to the code conflict issue

you need to resolve the conflicts, you can use Compare tool to find out the conflicts to fix the error.

Please verify and let us know your findings

You should follow the procedure for code upgrade. Upgrade conflicts are detected automatically during the process; you don't have to look for them by yourself.

You still can get compilation errors in code which isn't conflicting itself, but which refers to code that has changed. You have to analyze such errors and fix them; obviously there is not a single solution for every possible compilation error. If you get into troubles with some errors, you'll have to provide some information about them.

Martin, thank you for help. Update conflicts were detected and solved automatically, I didn't have to take care of them.

I'm following upgrade procedure and now perform data upgrade. I launched data upgrade and batch job was created. But only one upgrade script task was executed and nothing else happens. Do you have any ideas why it can happen?
