Business Portal 5.1 on Sharepoint 2010 - BDC Error

Hi,

I am installing Business Portal 5.1 on a SharePoint 2010 64bit  winows 2008 server. I am at the step where i select the business portal site collection. After clicking the next button, i get the following error -

Failed to call the Business Data Catalog Service. Please verify that the service is running and try again.

Any thoughts? I checked the sharepoint admin and confirmed that the "Business Data Connectivity Service"  is started. Is there any other service that needs to be started to fix that error?

Thanks,

Sandeep.

    Sandeep,

I'd recommend verifying that the Business Data Connectivity Service is also associated with the web application that you're selecting.

Central Admin > Application Management > Configure Service Application Associations.

    Thanks

I am stuck at the same point. When I attempt to go to Configure Service Applications it does not list any applications to configure. How do I get past this point?

    Richard,

I'd recommend going to "Configuration Wizards" and adding the BCS application.  After doing that, you should be able to associate it with your web application.

    Thanks

What worked for me was to set the service account for the SecurityTokenServiceApplicationPool to a domain user in Central Admin>>Security>>Configure service accounts.  I thought for sure I would need to reinstall SharePoint because each time I created a new BCS I had errors when I clicked Manage on the ribbon even though the service was running and in other respects everything appeared working.  Cheers.
