Tips for New Nav Developer

Hello,

I have recently accepted a position to become a remote Nav developer. I have a few years experience with Nav as a administrator and light development work of the program. Everything I know has been self taught. What would you recommend for "filling in the gaps" that I may have in my training or knowledge?

Also would be good if you work in a team of other professionals. Sharing experience is the fastest way of learning.

    Try following books :

    www.packtpub.com/.../implementing-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2013

    www.packtpub.com/.../programming-microsoft%C2%AE-dynamics%E2%84%A2-nav

Addition to above books you can use MSDN and other blogs on Dynamics NAV, saying all that best you can do is, create a sample DB and start do experiments on that. It will help you to gain so much of knowledge on development and real time experience.

You can also refer standard NAV posting routines (Finance, Sales & Purchase) and NAV reporting.

You can also start with sample project, which could be replica of standard Sales Order.

Also, Use of Debug, Watch, Call Stack in development environment gives lot of confidence when it comes to technical development.

Also, go through MSDN / Technet for high level understanding of NAV functional modules, which will be an added advantage.
