MSCRM 2013: Set e-mail sender by javascript

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I have a "Customer Service" e-mail address (and several others), which is assigned to a "Customer Service"-queue, so all e-mails are automatically added to the queue.

When an employee replies to an e-mail in the "Customer Service"-queue, the sender address of the e-mail will default to the employee. However, i'd like the sender address to default to the queue the original mail was sent to.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

    Hi!

Yes, you can do this using Javascript and the Xrm.Page object model.

See the following article for instructions:

    www.powerobjects.com/.../populate-crm-2011-lookup-partylist-field-javascript

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

Thanks for the reply Scott, i already know how to define statically the field, but i want it to be dynamic, that's why i mentioned "i'd like the sender address to default to the queue the original mail was sent to".

That's a good fix if you want it to be always the same address.

Anyway thanks again for the feedback.

    Any more ideas? :)

    I see what you mean!

In CRM2011 you need to use the query string _ReplyToId and then retrieve the details of the email the user is replying to . In CRM2013 you'll need to use the ParentAcivityId. (rickardnorstrom.blogspot.co.uk/.../new-feature-in-crm-2013-on-activities.html)

You can use a toolkit like xrmsvctoolkit.codeplex.com to query to get the queue that the parent email was to.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Hey Scott.

Thanks for the link, i can understand the "http://CRMSERVER/ORGONE/XRMServices/2011/OrganizationData.svc/QueueItemSet?$select=QueueId,ObjectId&$filter=ObjectId/Id eq guid''" query, though i receive a connect error when using it, as i'm not really familiar with the SOAP/REST protocols, and i can't seem to find a way to use the XrmSvcToolKit.. I've installed it as a solution but i'm a bit lost.

Any suggestions/hints from where i can start?

    Thanks in advance
