Suppress SubAccounts on the Trial Balance

Posted on by 65

I'm using Dynamics SL and I'm trying to run a Trial Balance on the financial screen.  When I run the trial balance, it includes all subaccount information.  Is there any way to suppress the subaccounts and have all the information for each account total?

Thanks!

Thank you Rick.  This was helpful, as was Mark's down below.

Thank you Mark and Rick, this is very helpful.  While I'm not TOO familiar with Crystal yet, I will keep this in mind for when we can get it done.

I do something similar to what Rick has suggested, but I use the same report that can run both detail (with subaccts) and summary (no subaccts) by adding an option in the RptControl table (which I call "Summarize by Account").  When the option is checked, the Acct Group footer prints, and when it is unchecked, the Detail Line prints.

Using conditional formulas in the "Suppress" function of each of those groupings in Crystal makes the standard 01610.rpt report work under both scenarios.

Eliminates the need to have multiple Crystal report formats to work with (there are already 2 of them).  Again, requires some Crystal knowledge and how to modify the RptControl table.

    Just another option....

The only way I know to do this is to create a new Crystal Report.  You can open the 01610a report in Crystal, suppress the detail b line, un-suppress group footer 4, add the account file and account descry fields, use the subtotal tool to total the balance fields and save the modified report with a new name in the user reports folder.  You then have to open report control maintenance, pull up 01610, add the new format description and your new report name and you are set.  Pretty easy to do if you are at all comfortable with Crystal Reports.
