I want to see ALL responses as the default setting

Is there a way to change the default setting to ALL Responses?

I think only seeing those things that have been marked as 'Suggested Answers' is ludicrous. How many answers have you seen that are marked as 'Suggested' that aren't even close to being an answer. I think the default should be All Responses, with the option to restrict it to suggested answers.

Take a look at the graphic above. There was only 1 suggested answer, but plenty of information in those other 22 responses that can lead to the right answer. The 'suggested' answer, the only one displayed, was not the answer.

I think this is causing answers to be marked as 'suggested' even if they are just questions for the poster. What this is telling me, is that if you want your response to show up on the forum, you'd better mark it as suggested.

I'd like to know your opinion. Don't forget to mark each of your responses as 'Suggested Answers' so I don't have to click an extra button to see them.

Kind regards,

Leslie

    Ms. Leslie

I definitely agree with you on this point, this new answers' presentation results with a frequent glitch while browsing the forum on a daily base, especially that the majority of questions are not flagged as answered.

I would suggest to get this idea on the Site Feedback forum, hopefully that would draw their attention.

Another point to be considered is the ability to see my own questions, not the questions that I have asked but the ones I have contributed to, it used to be there but not anymore. It absolutely facilitates the daily follow up.

    Leslie,

This behavior follows from the previous forum's setting to show "the answer" just below "the question."  I complained about it since it destroyed the chronological question and answer cycle.  I was politely told by the folks making the decisions that they felt it was important for people browsing the forum to quickly access the solution (<sarcasm>thereby avoiding any other potential learning or information others had provided in arriving at the solution<\sarcasm>)

I'm with you...allow the user to set their default forum behavior and appearance.

Perhaps your voice will carry farther...

    Tim,

Thank you for responding! I am especially glad that I'm not all alone out here. So many of the 'Suggested Answers' are junk. So much valuable information is included in those 'other' answers. I get very frustrated by users suggesting anything they type as an answer, now I know that it's the only way to get their response read. suggested

I wish I'd get some other responses. I think it's valuable to give users the option to highlight on the 'suggested answer' posts, but like you, I do not think it should be the default.

If they must use answers for the default, then the ONLY answer that should 'default' are Verified answers. I think, personally, that all this suggesting has gotten out of control. We used to think before we marked something as 'suggested', but now it's the norm.

I will pursue this farther if I can get some more support.

    Thanks again.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

PS  I also think that only showing so few lines in the rich text response (when you are responding) is a very bad design. I complained about this during testing of the new web site, but you can see how far that went. <more sarcasm :)>

    Mahmoud,

I agree with you about seeing the threads I responded to. So many things get posted each day that it's hard to find dialogs you have been having with a forum member. Since you and I focus on trying to respond. It seems there should be something in the site that makes responding easier.

After all, the forum isn't good for much if nobody answers the questions.

I have no idea why they took this away. I shall go to the Site Feedback forum. Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all about it.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie

I am with you on this one.  I think users of this forum also need to think before "suggesting" their answer.  Things like having leader boards and badges for the suggested answers also encourage the behaviour.

I like all the badges etc, but I think there are some people who are just out to get recognised on the leader boards without actually having well thought out answers.

Put suggested answer when you are 80+% sure it is right or on the right path - not just to get a badge.  After all, the purpose of the site is to help others and create a sharing community.  If as a result of that our own skills get noticed, fantastic, but the open sharing is the most important aspect.

In my case, I will happily take this "suggested" answer as the last one I need for my next badge!!!

    Cheers

    Heather

    Leslie,

I agree, as well. I showed my agreement by adding Likes to every comment on this thread, but I don't know how helpful that is either. :-)

And I also agree with Heather, there is so much emphasis on the badges and the leader boards it feels at times that it is taking away from the actual intent of the forum.

Marking this as a suggested answer so Leslie can see it. ;-)

I believe Heather Roggeveen has touched upon a crucial point, the badges program is something we all admire as it encourages and blesses the community contribution. Although, the adopted criteria to evaluate and award such contribution shall be qualitative not quantitative. The most recent enhancements deployed lately have over emphasized on the badges and awards, pushing more users to focus their efforts to answer more, since the overall rule is "The more you answer and suggest, the higher your rank becomes! ", which is absolutely incorrect. Rather,  it should be "The more precise, accurate, specific and error-free your answer is, the higher your rank becomes".

Throughout the previous two years, I have been dedicating few hours out of my daily schedule for the community, I believe there is currently an increasing trend to rush more answers regardless of the fact that you do have the answer or not. This behavior is being enhanced by the badges program. Just for the sake of argument, If we do a simple calculation (ratio-like) considering the number of verified answers divided by the number of suggested answer on a monthly base, we may have a credibility indicator. It may stop some from rushing more unrelated answers as they will go down on the leader board than going up !

We all know that in several cases, we do not have the precise answer right at the tip of our fingers. Rather, testing several scenarios until we reach the proper findings is a must. It might not be the best answer, but at least it should not be incorrect !

I hope I am being constructive with my humble opinion as I believe this issue should be considered and well handled. Shall I tag this as suggested for Ms. Leslie !  It will take me up a bit on the board :D

I will look into this guys because I agree it is kind of annoying to have to change it every time you open a post. I will keep you guys posted.

Hello everyone and thank you for all of the feedback for the site. We do listen and take very seriously all feedback on the site we receive. I am happy to report that we will be making the switch to show All Responses as the default view when viewing forums. This change is set to take place in mid-Sept.

Also as Mahmoud mentioned we have a Microsoft Dynamics Community Site Feedback forum available for feedback, feature suggestions, problems, or anything you would like to discuss with us. Our entire Community team is subscribed to this forum and we respond to every question posted. Please feel free to take advantage of that. If you have something to discuss you do not want to post on a public forum please email us at dlcommed@microsoft.com.

Thank you again for your thoughts and feedback. Please keep helping us improve the Community.

    Leslie,

I had to reply to share this...

I was checking back on this thread just now and I was surprised that there were no more answers on it...until I hit <wait for it> "All Responses."  Both Jonathan and Justin did not mark their answers as "Suggested Answers" even though they are the "definitive" answer. (ROFL!)
