Create Budget vs Actual Report

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 22

One of our sister organization is using Great Plains. I want to try and duplicate the report that they are using in GP in Business Central. It's essentially a budget vs actual report. The columns are:

  • Account
  • G/L Code
  • Budget Full Year
  • Budget To Date
  • Actual to Date
  • Variance

Any suggestions on how to tackle this?

I have the same question (0)

You could look at  "Account Schedules"

You can use G/L Accounts (with code and description) as lines

And then create your own Column Layouts using

A:    Ledger Entry Type = Budget Entries  with Column Type = Entire Fiscal Year

B:    Ledger Entry Type = Budget Entries  with Column Type = Year to Date

C:    Ledger Entry Type = Entries               with Column Type = Year to Date

    D:    Column Type = Formula       Formula = B-C

Thank you. That's very helpful. I've edited the column layouts and it's still not showing the columns. It's still just showing net change. What I am doing wrong?

    Hmmm

Did you specify the "budget" for which you want to compare data?

This is what I get .. after I created a budget and entered budget for 40200 and 40300 for 01/01/2019 and 12/01/2019 (to find a difference as per 11/30/2019)

My column layout is as follows

Actually, I was able to get the columns to show up. The G/L Codes aren't showing up though. By "you can use G/L Accounts (with code and description) as lines" do you mean I need to enter the G/L code into the description directly? I was hoping for a separate column.

I used the function to copy G/L Accounts and got the Row No. filled with the G/L Account No. and also the Descrtiption

I was able to insert the G/L accounts as well. It's the output that's the issue. The G/L codes aren't showing up on the report.

When you print the report you get the request page where you can change settings, right?
When you then use "Show more" to see all parameter … at the very bottom …

set "Show Row No." to true/yes

that should give the desired result on the report
