Conditionally Setting Status Reason for Active Quotes

When a Quote is activated the FormType is set to ReadOnly. My client wishes to have the StatusCode (Status Reason) updated conditionally, based on other field values on the Quote prior to Activation. Currently, this value can only be set by the Default Value.

Thus, any attempt at setting this value with JScript client-side has failed. I tried a tiny integration via Scribe and this too has failed. Once the Quote is ReadOnly it seems nothing can update the form.

I am looking for a Support Method of updating the StatusCode once the Quote has been Activated.
