Warehouse app task validation removed?

Hello,

since we updated our Test-Sandbox (with which we do our automated testing with RSAT) environment to version 10.0.8 (10.0.319.20016), we are missing the "Warehouse app task validation" functionality in D365.

Has there been any information regarding the removal or merging to another package?

Thanks in advance for every suggested answer/information.

Best regards,

Lukas

I'll just answer this to myself, in case somebody else is facing this issue.

The functionality "Warehouse app task validation" with which it is possible to record tasks which contain scanner work, is only available on Tier 1 (Onebox, cloud hosted) environments. For Tier 2 (e.g. sandbox) environments this module is not available.

Moved to the Dynamics 365 SCM forum.

@Lukas: Thanks for providing your own answer. I have marked it to get the answered status on this thread.

Hi! is there are update? Does anyone know will it be possible to use Warehouse app task validation with sandbox in a future?

While this is a valid answer, I'm questioning why we don't see any official documentation stating that.  Tier 1 environments are not intended for this type of testing.  The ability to drop database updates down to Tier 1 versus Tier 2 UAT is vastly less efficient.  Tier 1 environments have a data cap at 100GB (which we are pushing against).  I'm just not sure what the restriction is based on and that is my question.  Why isn't this available in Tier 2+ and what is the plan regarding that possibility?

    I've created a separate question community.dynamics.com/.../is-it-possible-to-use-warehouse-app-task-validation-with-sandbox-environment

and got an answer that this issue will not be fixed:

    Hi!

I've found a work around - we can use 'Warehousing app emulator' through 'warehouse label viewer'

Some recording steeps need to be updated a little bit due to all buttons are recognized as Ok button in WH emulator

But still I was able to automate scenario

So the purpose of the warehouse app task validation versus utilizing the in-browser emulator is that the app validation module actually generates identical XML and simulates the user interaction from the mobile device app.  The emulator does not work that way so it doesn't validate that the test cases will also work when carried out from the user interacting via the mobile app.
