Batch Below, Picking all inventory from a location without batch/serial scans

Posted on by 17
Hello all,

In this scenario the reservation hierarchy is batch below and we are creating replenishment work.

When replenishment work is created to pick all the on hand from a location, is it possible to setup the mobile device where the batch and serial do not need be scanned ?

Example on hand below on location 1:

Item numberBatch numberLocationSerial numberAvailable physical
ItemBatch 111120.00
ItemBatch 211220.40

Work created for replenishment requesting all inventory from location 1:

Work statusWork typeLocationItem numberWork quantityRemaining quantity
OpenPick1Item20.0020.00
OpenPick1Item20.4020.40
OpenPut2Item40.4040.40

The mobile device would be set up so that in these instances warehouse workers could move the pallet without having to scan all individual batch and serial numbers.

Note: I have tried the group by field on the mobile device menu item however the batches and serials still must be scanned

Thanks

I believe you have three options:

    1. Don't allow mixed batches on your locations.  You'll still have to input serial number if you have different serial numbers in the location.
    2. License plate control these locations.
    3. Generate GS1 barcodes for these and use GS1 labels for picks.

Side note:  Why do you have batch AND serial numbers?  I've always seen this configuration to be problematic, rather an item is either batch tracked or serial tracked, but not both is best practice IMHO.

    Hi,
You can check out this following  document about flexible warehouse-level dimension reservation strategies, which states that warehouse operations can continue to handle job execution in the usual way. However, the instructions on the mobile device will instruct the worker to pick a specific batch number. If it turns out to be impractical to pick from the location that is specified on the work line, the warehouse operators can use one of the following actions to redirect picking of the specific batch from a more convenient location:
The standard Override location action on a mobile device (provided that the warehouse worker's Allow pick location override setting is enabled)
The Change location action on the Work list details page.
