Unable to uninstall or repair Dynamics SL 2011 FP1

I'm trying to unistall or repair the Dynamics SL 2011 FP1 but I keep getting the message

Instashield

Error 1628: Failled to complete installation

Is there any way to correct this problema.

    You can try to uninstall with System Administrator privilege user.

    Hello Santhosh Dharmar

    I'm having this problema on a Windows 2008 R2 server, I tried to do as you mention but still have the same problema.

    What I did was select the setup.exe program and with the rigth click on it I chosse the Run as an adminstrator option.

    After this, the original setup screen appeared and after I selected the Microsoft Dynamics SL application, the installation started and when I tried to use the unistall option, I got the same error.

    Hi

    For Dynamics SL Un-installation you can use the windows "Program And Features" utility instead of using Dynamics SL setup.

    Log-in your server with Windows Administrator account and open the "Program and Features" utility under "Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features". Then uninstall the Dynamics SL Client (Workstation) first and uninstall the Dynamics SL Server installation.

    Hi Miguel,

    You could try to uninstall it using the uninstall string in the registry.

    start > run > regedit (enter)

    navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Uninstall\

    click on edit > search and type in Dynamics

    once it found the related registry entry locate the key labelled UninstallString, double-click it, copy-paste its content in a dos command prompt (start > run > cmd) and run the command

    The installation process does make entries in the event log.  I do not see that you have looked in the event log to get some more definitive information as to why the un-install is failing.  If you have not looked there, do that and report back what you found.

    Hello everyone

    Thank you all for all the answers and suggestions. I was able to restore a system backup from the day before I started with this problem, and I could restart the whole upgrade procedure.
