Illegal address for field ‘FICA/Med Add Tax Rate in script ‘941_Generate’

We installed the latest payroll tax .msp on GP 2010 and got the following error message when we tried to print the Form 941 report:

Unhandled script exception:

Illegal address for field ‘FICA/Med Add Tax Rate in script ‘941_Generate’. Script terminated.

The client has GreenShades installed. When we tried the report without GreenShades installed, there was no error. GreenShades told us they have not encountered this error at other sites. Have any of you with GreenShades encountered this problem?

Kind regards,

Leslie

We have not run into this.  We have applied the latest update and the greenshdades latest update (That was released on 4/4).   A long shot, but Is it possible they are using a Modified 941 report?    Also I did receive a note from Greenshades that you might need to lauch GP as an administristor and login to GP with sa to apply their update.

    Thanks Douglas,

They are not using a modified 941. The update was installed by Rose.asp, we're waiting to hear back from them.

    Leslie,

Did you get this resolved?  I'm having the exact same problem at a client.

I found the problem.  I renamed our REPORTS.DIC and the error disappeared.  Apparently a corrupt file.  And we did not modify any of the 941 reports.  Now I will rebuild it and see if that works.

Your business network_server returns you error 941 for an unhandling_exception error in script writing for the generated report because first, there is a corruption or an invalid taxes rate generated from payroll_databases and you should report this type of errors to your supervisor : when server reports a 941 error for payroll_reports, be certain that someone who have access to payroll_databases made an unhandling_exception error and surely this person performed illegal_actions over business_network in the referenced database. Second I am telling you to advise your supervisor because he will surely know how to handle this system_violation case and he should call to required authority to determine who and how was made this error and generate a complete system_report to understand how was made this error. It seems alarming at the moment but remember that unhandling_errors from such databases are intolerable when we are talking of business and gouvernemental funds.

    Have a nice day!

    Our Forms.dic was bad.

How funny ours was too!  Now I'm not sure if both dic files actually were but when I replaced the Reports.dic I still got the message and had to rebuild the Forms.dic.  Now it works all around.

We are aware of a possible issue with this error. The workaround is to renamed your Reports.dic and/or Forms.dic and import them back in using a package file. We will post more information once we have official word on this.

If anyone remembers the exact steps they did please send me an email Jfear@microsoft.com. We would like to see if we can reproduce this using specific steps. For example did you upgrade your existing Forms.dic files after you applied the update? Did you simply log into GP (after logging into GP Utils to synch framework) and then started receiving the error? Are you using multiple Forms.dic files (one on each machine) or shared dictionaries? If you are using a shared dictionary did you upgrade it on the shared location or did you bring it local?

Any additional information any of you guys can provide will help us track down this issue.

    Thanks everyone!!
