Delete bank account from GOLD configuration environment

Hi,

I am trying to delete some bank accounts from a GOLD configuration environment and receiving the error: A financial dimension value is based on the XXXXX record and has been used on a transaction. You cannot delete the record.

This bank account is not linked to any payment method, journal name, posting profiles, etc. also, there is no transaction entred  in the Golden Config environment.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you

SINDA

Does anyone know if this is resolved?  We are seeing the same behavior if a bank account was imported using the Bank Account entity.  Bank accounts entered manually via the UI can be deleted if they have not been used.  Imported bank accounts cannot because the validation for delete fails due to dimension attributes existing for that bank account .  Complicated logic starting in the delete() method of BankAccountTable.

    Thanks,

    Don Shields

    Hi Sinda,

As Andre and Ramit mentioned, it is not wise to delete them from SQL (in regards to its possible consequences). When an issue is related to the financial dimension, you should take in to consideration that there are several tables that related, and it is complex to find which tables are affected (e.g. DimensionAttributeLevelValue and DimensionAttributeValueCombination).

NB. Having records in the above tables will prevent the deletion of that dimension.

You can try a Workaround here by change the name of the bank account. for example with a prefix "Inactive" and suspend them as dimension value on financial dimension. When it comes to the migration phase to another solution, you can just export the correct values (i.e. bank accounts) and import in target environment.

    Hi Sinda,

I am facing the same trouble,

While looking in the Microsoft's KB, i could find this:

All you have to do is to neutralize the bank account thru setup,

    Kind regards

RE: Delete bank account from GOLD configuration environment

    Hi,

Each time a new account is created and used in any journal line or Sales order, or purchase order, the system shall be able to handle this in the new journals controls, this is, add a new ‘branch’ to the lookup control, and show to the user the new values for that dimension.

To be able to do this in an efficient way, and performance not to be very penalized due this flexibility, what system design does is to store in a very specific table (DimensionAttributeValueCombination) the combination that is being used at any time.

Due the lack of functionality to do a complete checking of the whole application to validate whether an account has been used, there is no standard way to secure this point.

    Thanks,

    Sheela

    Hi Sinda,

Have you carefully read the first reply from Ramit? There was a bug in the past. Please contact Microsoft Support for your issue. Don't delete just the bank account from the table directly as there might be some reference records in the dimension framework tables. If you only delete the bank account, you could copy an inconsistent database to the production environment when you go live.

    thanks for your response,

but we haven't validated or simulated any journal in the Golden Config, there is only setup!

with that the system does not allow the deletion of bank accounts.

    best regards,

    Hi,

There was a BUG on this, please check with MS support team, however I am not sure if this is the same bug.

Note- even if you don't have any transactions, but you used the bank with some transaction and validated/simulated in any journal, then also the transactions get added into the temp table, as a result system wont allow you to delete that.

Its better to make the bank account inactive and move on.
