If you're having trouble publishing Financial Report KPIs in Business Central or connecting to the Web Service in Power BI, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Ensure Web Services for KPIs are Enabled in Business Central

    1. Navigate to Web Services:
      • Go to Business Central > Search for "Web Services"
    2. Check if KPI Web Services Are Available:
      • Look for KPI-related services (e.g., KPI Web Service, Financial Reports Service).
      • Ensure the "Published" column is set to TRUE.
    3. Manually Publish the KPI Service (If Missing):
      • Click New > Choose Object Type = Page
      • Select the relevant Object ID (e.g., 197 for Financial KPIs)
      • Enable Published checkbox
      • Copy the OData URL for later use.

Step 2: Verify OData URL & Authentication in Power BI

    1. Open Power BI Desktop
    2. Get Data from Business Central OData Feed:
      • Click Get Data > OData Feed
      • Paste the KPI Web Service URL from Business Central
    3. Check Authentication Settings:
      • Select Basic Authentication and enter your Business Central credentials
      • If using Azure AD authentication, ensure your AAD credentials have the correct permissions.
    4. Refresh & Test the Connection.

Step 3: Check Business Central User Permissions

    1. Go to Business Central > Search for “Users”
    2. Ensure your user has the correct permission sets, such as:
      • D365 POWER BI SERVICE
      • D365 REPORTING
      • SUPER (if needed for testing).
    3. If using OAuth for Power BI, ensure API access is allowed.

Step 4: Check Network & Service Connectivity

    • Ensure your Business Central environment allows OData and SOAP requests (check your IT firewall settings).
    • If you are using an On-Premise deployment, confirm that Business Central Web Services are accessible externally.
    • Test the OData feed in a browser by pasting the URL and checking for errors.

Step 5: Restart Services & Clear Cache

    • Restart Business Central Web Services via Admin Center.
    • Clear Power BI Data Source Settings and re-enter credentials.
    • If using Power BI Service, try re-publishing the dataset.

    Final Steps & Alternative Workarounds

✅ If the issue persists, try:

    • Exporting Financial Reports to Excel and connecting Power BI to the Excel file.
    • Using Business Central APIs instead of the OData Web Service.

It is still not possible to receive the Odata from Business Central.
I have also tried in Excel, but not possible.

I have tried with other web services, and this was possible, but with the 197 and 198, there was no response from the server.

Can the latest Microsoft update be the cause of this?

    Hi, good day
I hope this can help you, and give you some hints.

    Is it published?

    Best Regards
    Gerardo
