Is it mandatory to register an AAD app to connect to Dynamics?

Hi Experts,

Recently we found that AAD app registration is required for both C# console app connection and XrmToolBox, it seems that the authentication with only username and password is deprecated.

Is there still an authentication method available currently to skip AAD app registration?

AFAIK an ADD app is only required when trying to connect via OAuth. Otherwise there are a couple of further options as you can see when trying to create a new connection in XrmToolBox.

Hello,

Normally you have to register your application on Azure, but this is not mandatory. You can use an application that is pre-registered for your oranization

Doc: For development and prototyping purposes we have provided the following AppId or ClientId and Redirect URI for use in OAuth Flows.
For production use, you should create an AppId or ClientId that is specific to your tenant in the Azure Management portal.
