Cashier specific Touchscreen Keyboard Assignment

I would like to assign the cashier or say register specific touchscreen keybaord. I created the sample touchscreen keybaord from |Database|Register|Keyboard. I restarted the POS then after and can see the new keyboard under the main touchscreen keyboard |Menu|Custom| Sample Keybaord|. The problem is no matter what the security level and the custom keyboard assigned for the cashier are, the main touchscreen keyboard always shows up which provides all of the keys to access. Some of them are restricted based on the security level. What I would like to do is if cashier login to the POS, he/she can only view the custom keyboard NOT the main touchscreen keyboard. Is  there any way to implement this kind of setup in RMS? Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,

Pappu

    Adam,

I came to know that you can't set the Menu level security at POS interface. However, field level security helps. I did follow the steps as mentionaed below:

    1. Activate the classic function buttons interface call it "Classic View" when you set the Register from SO Manager (DO NOT use or assign the the taskpads NOR activate the touchscreen interface yet).
    2. Click on Left Bottom most button which activates the security mode. Now assign the security to the function buttons of interest.
    3. Now activate or assign taskpads and/or touchscreen interface.

This is the best I could do and hopefully help others.

    Thanks,

    Pappu

I appreciate your responses. I am probably not up to the level as you are and I need your help.

Let's say, I will use the task pads and not the touchscreen keyboard. How would I create the numeric pad and letter pad with task pad option. OR ..

If I could simply disable all of the buttons under the Touchscreen's "Menu" button except the "Custom" button then cashier don't have access to any of the buttons other than what is assigned in the custom touchscreen keyboard.

Make sure you set the security on the "set security" button so they can't go in and disable it themselves.

Like Adam said, there is a new feature called Taskpads that can be completely customized, and assigned per cashier or per register. You can have specific taskpads for different levels of employees. It's easy to create the buttons too.

    Adam,

I appreciate your response. I set the security level at Menu level from POS and now cashier can have only access to custom button through which he/she can access the assigned touchscreen board. It serves the purpose.

I would suggest upgrading to the latest version of RMS that has a new touchscreen interface that will allow for exactly what you want. Let me know if you have need any assistance with this.
