Restricted access on activities

Hi,

we have a question. Related to privacy and authorization, we have the need to restrict information about and within activities.

We can of course limit access to activities, but then a specific users can't see any activities at all.

We would like them to show that there are activities (so the record with subject-line), but not always access to the content of an activity. We are using teams now, no BusinessUnits.

Please advice what we can do to make this happen.

Kind regards,

Max Schoenmaker

Thanx, yes that are issues as well. Secure front and open backdoors ;-)

But the read all or nothing is a problem as well. People think there are no activities (contactmoments), but there are.

Thanks so far, I will discuss this with our admins.

    RE: Restricted access on activities

    Hi Max,

we may need more details. As Leon suggested, Field Security profiles might be one option, but it depends on whether you can, basically, put your users into two different categories - those who can see everything(added to the profile) and those who can't(not added to the profile).

It's, likely, not the case, so another option might be to create an on-retrieve plugin that will raise an error when somebody tries to open an activity they are not supposed to open.

But, then, they can use advanced find. In which case you may also need to create an on-retrievemultiple plugin to scramble data in the columns.

But, then, there are SSRS reports.. And plugins will not work for them.

Long story short, Dynamics may not be able to do this - you may have to think more in terms "they can read all or nothing" since that works better with the security roles/field security profiles/etc.

    Hello,

you can try it with the Field Security.

There you can say what Fields are visible for specific users or Roles.

    Kind Regrads
